The mobile application TravelBabble is published and operated by GB4 Apps LLC, a United States limited liability company ("GB4 Apps," "we," "our," or "us").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use TravelBabble.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account Information: Email address, username, profile information (name, bio, profile picture), and preferences you provide during registration.
- Location Data: Your current location to help you find nearby travelers and to power location-based features. Other users do not see your precise coordinates; we use generalized location (for example, city, county, or park area) where the product shows location to others. What location-related information is visible is also controlled by in-app privacy settings. We collect location only when you grant permission and use features that require it.
- Camera and Photos: We access your device's camera or photo library only when you choose to upload or update your profile picture (or similar user-initiated uploads). We do not access your camera or photos at any other time.
- Messages and Communications: Messages you send through the app, including direct messages and location-based chats.
- Social and Events: Friend connections, friend requests, and activity related to travel channels and events you create, join, or browse—including event titles, descriptions, timing, visibility settings (such as public, friends-only, or request-to-join), join requests, and attendee or organizer information as needed to operate those features.
- Push Notifications: If you enable notifications, we associate a device push token with your account so we can deliver alerts (for example, new messages, event join requests, approvals, or event updates). You can turn off notifications in your device settings.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use the app, such as features accessed and interactions with other users.
- Technical Data: Information such as device type, operating system version, and app version, as needed for security, reliability, and support.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and improve our services, including connecting you with other travelers
- Enable location-based features and show nearby travelers
- Facilitate messaging, friend connections, channels, and events—including join requests, approvals, and notifications related to those features
- Send push notifications you have opted into, where supported by your device
- Manage your account, privacy preferences, and in-app settings
- Detect abuse, protect security, and comply with legal obligations
3. Data Storage, Location, and Security
We host and process personal information in the United States (and, if we use subprocessors in other regions in the future, we will describe that here). We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Data is stored on our backend infrastructure and is accessed only by authorized personnel who need it to provide our services.
Push delivery may use third-party services (such as Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android and Apple Push Notification service for iOS) that process device tokens and message payloads solely to deliver notifications; those providers act as service providers under their own terms and privacy policies.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "sell" or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined under U.S. state privacy laws. We may disclose information only as follows:
- With other users as part of the app's core functionality (for example, showing your profile according to your privacy settings, displaying messages you send, or showing event or channel information to participants as designed by each feature)
- With service providers who assist us in operating the app (including cloud hosting and push notification delivery), subject to confidentiality and instructions that limit use to providing our services
- If required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of GB4 Apps, our users, or the public
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, where personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction (we will continue to protect it as described in this policy or give you notice)
5. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws. Generally, you can:
- Access, update, or delete certain account information through the app settings
- Control in-app privacy settings, including who can see your location, profile, and other visibility options
- Revoke location, camera, photo library, or notification permissions through your device settings
- Request deletion of your account
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to correct inaccurate information, subject to exceptions under California law. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as described in Section 4. To submit a request, contact us at the email below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Users outside the United States should note that data is processed in the U.S.; by using TravelBabble, you understand your information may be transferred to the United States.
6. Children's Privacy
TravelBabble is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a user under 18, please contact us immediately.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and change the "Last Updated" date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice (for example, in-app). Your continued use of TravelBabble after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, except where prohibited by law.
